Job Performance & WBS

Track margins at every phase. Not just the total.

High-level project numbers hide where money actually goes. Aimsio connects your work breakdown structure to live field data so you can see exactly where margin is won or lost while there is still time to act.

Before & After

What changes when you switch to Aimsio

Before

Without Phase-level Performance Tracking

  • Job performance only visible at the total job level - Phase-level overruns hidden inside job-level averages until it is too late.
  • WBS and performance data in separate tools - The numbers are always out of date by the time they are compiled.
  • No way to track physical progress against cost - The budget looks fine until you realize 50% has been spent with only 20% of the work done.
  • Committed purchase orders not in the budget - Costs that have been agreed but not invoiced stay invisible until the bill arrives.
After

With Aimsio Job Performance & WBS

  • Margins visible at the phase level, not just the total - You see exactly where money is going before it becomes a problem.
  • Performance and structure in one place - No switching between tools to compare budgets against actual costs.
  • Physical progress tracked against real field data - Percent complete tied to actual tickets, not estimates.
  • Committed PO costs visible alongside actuals - The full picture, including what has been agreed but not yet invoiced.

Core Capabilities

Everything you need for phase-level profitability

Know where your margin is and where it's at risk. At every phase.

WBS Structure

Break your job into phases and activities that match how the work is actually organized. Start from a blank chart, use a template, or copy the structure from a previous job. No limit on how many levels you need.

Billable vs Cost by Phase

See what you have billed against what you have spent at each phase, updated every time a ticket, timecard, or purchase order is saved. Margin calculated automatically at every level.

Physical Progress Tracking

Track how much of each phase is actually done using your own unit of measurement: kilometres of pipe, cubic metres, or whatever fits your work.

Variance Tracking

When a phase starts going over budget, you see it right away, not after the job is done. Variance is visible at the phase level as work comes in.

Committed PO Visibility

Approved POs show up as committed costs in your WBS before the vendor invoice arrives. As POs are received, those committed amounts move to actual cost automatically.

Earned Value and EAC

Earned Value tells you the value of work completed against the plan. Estimate at Completion forecasts where the job will likely finish based on current progress and cost trends.

How It Works

From phase structure to real-time profitability

1

Set up WBS and enable Job Performance

Set up your phase structure, assign planned dates, and enter budgets per phase. Use a template or copy from a previous job to save time.

  • Enable WBS to track performance
  • Start from a blank chart, template, or previous job
  • Budgets and planned dates set per phase

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Job Performance is Aimsio's built-in reporting framework that tracks profitability, cost, and physical progress at the phase level. A Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) organizes the job into phases and activities. Together they give you a live view of where the job stands. See margin, cost, progress, and committed spend at every level of the project.

Yes. A WBS Schedule must be enabled on a job before Job Performance metrics are available. You do not need to use every WBS feature. Even a basic schedule will give you visibility into total revenue and cost for the job.

Costs come from two sources: timecards and non-recurring billables (NRBs) from received purchase orders. All costs are consolidated into a Total Cost figure. Approved purchase orders also appear as committed costs, a separate column that reflects costs agreed to but not yet invoiced, and transition to actual cost as the PO is received.

Earned Value measures the value of work actually completed against the planned budget. Combined with Estimate at Completion (EAC), it tells you where the job is likely to land financially based on current performance, not just where it stands today.

WIP stands for Work In Progress. It is calculated as the difference between billable work captured on tickets and the amount that has been invoiced. A high WIP means work has been done but not yet billed. Useful for identifying invoicing delays.

Yes. WBS templates can be created and applied when setting up a new job. If similar projects follow a consistent structure, templates save significant setup time and keep your phase organization consistent across jobs.
